Located at Boston’s main harbour, the New England Aquarium offers a fascinating look at local and global marine life through whale-watching cruises, animal encounters and informative exhibits. The aquarium houses thousands of marine species, from penguins and seals to sea turtles and tropical fish, including the California sea lion.
Stroll through the aquarium while exploring the various exhibits, including the open-air Marine Mammal Center, home to California sea lions, and the Science of Sharks where you can see sharks from around the world. The four-storey Giant Ocean Tank houses hundreds of reef creatures from the Caribbean, while the Shark and Ray Touch Tank lets you get hands-on.
Don’t forget to check out the aquarium’s Simons IMAX Theatre, which often shows cinematic and educational movies such as “Oceans 3D: Our Blue Planet” and “Pandas 3D”. You can also partake in unique animal encounters such as whale watching, a behind-the-scenes tour of the exhibits or a meet-and-greet with seals.
