Surrounded by skyscrapers in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, Bryant Park is a green oasis that lies above the New York Public Library’s book stacks. It centres around a large lawn and memorial fountain and is framed by twin promenades of London plane trees.
Admire the Beaux Arts-style architecture of the New York Public Library, which occupies the eastern part of Bryant Park and is the flagship building of one of the world’s largest libraries. Browse the complimentary books and magazines available at the historic Reading Room or attend one of the regular book club events, writers workshops and children’s storytelling sessions.
Sculptures depicting Benito Juarez, Gertrude Stein and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe dot the park, together with a memorial to American poet William Cullen Bryant after whom the park is named. Movie nights and Broadway musicals are presented on the lawns throughout the warmer months before it transforms into a Winter Village for the Christmas season.
