Things to do in Mok-dong
Mokdong Stadium is one of the city’s premier sporting venues. Cheer on the local baseball team and watch the ice hockey squad shoot goals on the indoor rink. With a capacity for more than 25,000 spectators, the atmosphere on game days is electric.
Hyperion Tower soars 256 metres over Mok-dong and is one of the tallest skyscrapers in Seoul. The lower levels of the building house a high-end mall where you can browse boutiques from local and international brands. Outside you’ll find restaurants serving local dishes like BBQ pork, Korean fried chicken and rice topped with spicy kimchi.
Stretch your legs on the tree-lined paths that wind up Yongwang Mountain. Popular with locals, this park is a great place to escape the busy streets of Seoul. Parts of the park treat you to fantastic views over the Seoul skyline. Octagon-shaped Yong-Wangjeong Pavillion was built to commemorate the city’s 600th anniversary.
Fast subway connections make Mok-dong an ideal base for sightseeing in Seoul. Ride the train into the city centre and visit attractions like magnificent Gyeongbokgung Palace and the ultra-modern Dongdaemun Design Plaza. Jogyesa Temple is an urban sanctuary dotted with ancient pine and locust trees.
Getting around Mok-dong
Mok-dong is located in the ward of Yangcheon-gu, a 20-minute drive from Seoul’s city centre. The neighbourhood is serviced by Mok-dong Station on Line 5 of the Seoul Subway and Sinmokdong Station on Line 9. Incheon International Airport is a 45-minute drive away.
