The hotel and staff give you the feeling of a Grande Dame of hotels of a by gone era. The elegant lobby to the overall atmosphere of the hotel. We always have stayed at this hotel when we are in the North section of Baltimore for its convenience to everything. A Grand Hotel from another era, but updated.

Location. The rooms varied in what they had. Some had flat screens others did not.

The first impression was breath taking. The lobby was gorgeous. When my Husband and I was checking in there were a few others checking in at the same time. There were to desk agents when we arrived at he desk. They were doing a good job at taking care of the guest before us then out of the backroom two other people came to assist them. It made our check in much speedier. The fitness center is fabulous with some really great workout equipment for someone like me who doesn't like to miss a workout. My overall experience was pretty awsome. The hotel has a lot of things to offer. There's a coffee shop with gourmet cupcakes and they also sell Starbucks coffee. Again overall I would definitely stay here again, as a matter of fact I am coming back to Maryland in July 2008 and I will definitely come back to this Hotel.

We weren't going to spend much time at the hotel, so we decided to stay at the Doubletree. What a great choice! It's a beautiful hotel with very comfortable rooms. Parking is easy enough to find in downtown Baltimore so we just drove our car to the Camden Yards area. Even though you have to drive through a sketchy part of Baltimore to get to the hotel, once you arrive there, you feel very safe. The person at the check-in desk was difficult to understand (English was his second language), but he was very accommodating and pleasant. (and you can't beat the Doubletree cookies!) Overall, we definitely enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The next time we visit the Baltimore area, we will definitely stay here again,

The maintance man was a great help. The heat didn't work, room wasn't clean. The lobby was grand. The maintenances man help us out a lot, he was very friendly and he made sure that we were ok on our visit. The valet parking was a plus since it was so cold!

It looks like a new hotel, the place looks great, the LCD in my rom was HUGE. I had granite in my bathrooms and the lobby was gorgeous. The staff was friendly and I love those cookies they give out at check in. They had a Starbucks in the lobby which was great. I will definitely be back the next time I am in Baltimore.

While I like this property, sometime the staff just don't get it. They don't seem happy that you are there and are not terribly friendly. At the front desk and front area, they often sit and talk among themselves, sometimes ignoring that a customer is there. The restaurant still does not open early enough for breakfast for the business traveler who needs to leave early. On check-in, I had to remind the front desk person about the free breakfast coupon-- and they never asked if I was parking in their pay garage. More positive attention and focus on the customer is needed--especially for the price of the hotel.

Staff was friendly. Hotel located on a busy street. Definitely convenient to John's Hopkins, clean, staff very accommodating and pleasant, had soup at the bar didn't feel well afterwards, room clean, nice flat screen TV, great workout room to use.

I was in the area visiting John Hopkins University. The Colonnade was extremely convent to the campus (just across the street) and the rates were very reasonable as well. The rooms have just been renovated so every thing is new. Front desk was very helpful with directions and restaurant recommendations. Loved the large flat screen TV. The bed was a little soft for my taste. Overall very nice.

The hotel lobby entrance was beautifully decorated so we were anticipating to stay in a lovely room. The pool was very small, only 4 feet deep, and the lifeguard was sleeping on one of the lounge chairs. I would have much rather paid more and stayed at a hotel closer to the harbor, one with a more pleasing decor and improved amenities.

Great location, friendly staff and nice room. A lot of nicer hotels don't have free wireless internet, but this one does. Great for my business travel

Unless you have specific business that brings you to Johns Hopkins Homewood campus, avoid this like the plague. The front desk was rude, and had no training in any type of courteous interchange. I was greeted at the desk by " How Ya doin?"... There was a bellman at the front door, but he didnt even offer to take our bags in. The room was a suite, and the heat was turned OFF when we got there, so it was freezing for 30 minutes. When I checked out, I called to say I was going to be 10 minutes late...it is common practice to give a grace period....TEN minutes!! The response was "..YOU need to be OUT of your ROOM NOW." I asked again, surprised at the response, as I am an international traveler and a Hilton Honors member. She said "WE cannot allow you any extra time. " I had to ask for the manager. She came to the phone, was completely defensive, rude, non deferential, and said," you have 30 minutes to get out of your room. Is there anything ELSE I can help you with?" The rooms were old, the whirlpool had brown rings, as did the toilet. There was no room service at midnight,. the workout room is the size of a walk in closet. Need I say more?? The WiFi was free, but there were no instruction on how to get on the internet, or how to log on. I did not trust the valet service to park my car.No complimentary paper. This is a down-market hotel with up market rates. Buyer Beware.

Convenience to location of Johns Hopkins Hospital. Cost of parking. Overall the hotel was excellent. We also ate the breakfast buffet and it was fantastic.

Cleaning staff were very friendly. Front desk staff were grumpy. Very good experience. Would like to have a more robust exercise room.

Very beautiful. Checking out, parking fees. When we went to check out there was no one at the desk and that detained us and parking fees were 25 dollars and the site said 20 when we checked out the employee checking us out was very rude.

Location. Getting slammed with extra parking charges is a big turnoff. We should have been apprised that the pool/hot tub were under renovation. Bar prices vary by the whim of the bartender.

Big widescreen LCD TV - Not HDTV though. Very comfy bed. Bathtub drain would not close. Nice hotel. Nice neighborhood away from downtown bustle. Almost four stars.

It's convenient, and it's nice. Sometimes service is a little slow. For a stay in downtown Baltimore, you can't beat it.

Lobby and our room appeared nice. No free breakfast, no computers for guests, huge charge for parking, given bad info at desk On first appearance I was satisfied, and you must take into account that it is being renovated, but after going up stairs I found some areas which were not nice. The parking charge was very high and should have been validated by the hotel for guests. We found no restaurants in the area so we were forced to eat breakfast in the hotel. The breakfast was good, but we were charged $15.00 each for 2 eggs over easy with bacon - excessive. We stayed in 6 other hotels/motels on our vacation and everyone served free breakfast. We were never informed that there was free coffee in the restaurant or if or where the "signature cookies were". We never saw them. We asked at the desk for information on mass transit. We were directed to a location to pick up the train, and were told we could take a taxi to the train and we could call for a taxi to pick us up there when we returned. They told us we could call the hotel and they would call for a taxi for us. We took their card with their numbers and tried to do that. However, the fist # we dialed on the card went to voice mail and the 2nd # was no longer in service. We tried a number of times. We luckily had seen a cab and had written down the # so we called them directly and it took them over one hour to pick us up. We were waiting in a very desolate area which was a little scary. We were able to get a cab; we finally did - after midnight. After speaking with other people who stayed in other local hotels, they said their hotels had a van which picked up and delivered them to the mass transit spots. Good idea! Everyone was nice and fairly friendly but they should be better informed on area issues such as these. Also, in the other hotels & motels where we stayed, we found computers which guests could use. Not everyone has a laptop. Those are a huge convenience which was lacking here.
