First time visitors to New York.Location is excellent,5 minutes walk from the main shopping area of 5th Avenue.Subway station nearby.Staff courteous and helpful.Very good value and substantial continental breakfast included in the price.Rooms very clean and well serviced. Only negative is that there are no rooms available with a double and 2 single beds.We were a family of 4 with 2 teenagers(1 boy,1 girl).

Had a very enjoyable stay. Four of us stayed in one room for 7 days. We booked a double room with 2 double beds, but after a quick and easy check-in, we were pleasantly surprised with a king suite! We were a little concerned at first with not having a second bed, but the pull-out bed on the couch was just as comfortable as the bed. The room had a microwave, fridge, and little dining area, so it was quite spacious. The room was very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Great location also. Many sites within walking distance, and there is a subway stop half a block away. I would stay there again, and I highly recommend this hotel to others.

The staff at the hotel were helpful, polite and more than willing to assist with anything. This was our first trip to NYC and somewhat taken back by the price. Once we got over the sticker shock, we choose the San Carlos for the location and b/c it was one of more reasonalbly priced. We were able to check our luggage in early that morning, but couldn't get a room due to our early arrival time -about 9a. Upon returning to the hotel to check in to our room we were given an upgrade to a two-bedroom suite. Thie room was spacous, clean and well stocked. I would definitely stay at the San Carlos again. It's located close to Time Square, lot's to do and see. We had really no idea what to expect, given the expense and reputation of NYC hotels, but the San Carlos couldn't have been nicer and we were pleasantly suprised at how nice it was.

Great location, wonderful staff. We were provided a room with 2 double beds, 2 queens would have been better if available.

This is an excellent location and very good value for money. It is an equivalent to W Hotel without the restaurant, bar, entertainment.

Very good hotel. Well located, very clean and efficient. Helpful staff. Would return and hope to do so. Breakfast arrangements only flaw. Hot stuffy room inadequate for number of users.

We stayed at the San Carlos for a business trip/weekend getaway. At the suggestion of one of my coworkers, we stayed at the San Carlos. It's a very nice hotel that is conveniently located across the street from the subway. One block from the Waldorf. The front desk staff was friendly. It rained one of the days and the staff placed umbrellas near the front door for our use. Continental breakfast was good. The room was much larger than NYC standards. Ours even had a small fridge and microwave. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom clean and had very good quality towels. I know I'll be coming back to the San Carlos.

Hotel San Carlos was very nice, staff were very helpful. Location was great, just 15mins walk from Times Square. Impossible to have a room with a view as you always seem to be facing another tall building. Our deluxe room was lovely, but the rooms seem to be quite dark because of the surrounding tall buildings! It was great to have breakfast included, but there are lots of places to eat in the area. The only drawback was the taxes added on to the bill, taxes added approx 16% on top of the price quoted. I would return to this hotel in future.

Fantastic hotel perfect for a pre-christmas break. Great location - few minutes walk to Rockefeller Center, Grand Central Station and close to subway station so easy to get around. Rooms are clean, nicely decorated and very spacious with microwave, coffee maker and fridge. Breakfast was of a good standard too. Highly recommended!

I would have no hesitation recommending this hotel to anyone visiting New York. The hotel is centrally located and all major attractions can be accessed on foot. The hotel is clean and all staff friendly and willing to assist. Our room had a mini bar, seperate fridge, and microwave oven. Can think of no negative comments. Try it.
