Where to stay in Olympic Stadium

About Olympic Stadium

Stadio Olimpico is one of the most famous sporting venues in the entire world, officially inaugurated with a match between Italy and Hungary in 1953. It’s the perfect way to immerse yourself in local Italian culture, by watching some unforgettable live sporting drama.

Located within the Foro Italico sports complex just north of Rome, it’s primarily used for football. Visit the stadium to cheer on local club teams, Lazio and Roma, in Italy’s series A or snag tickets to see the Italian national rugby union team. It occasionally hosts concerts by Italian and international musicians, while the annual “derby” match between local rivals AS Roma and SS Lazio is its biggest event.

Located in a pleasant area along the Tiber river, there are a variety of spots to enjoy a pre or post game espresso, gelato or pizza. You can also visit Rome’s other major stadium, Stadio Flaminio, which lies within walking distance on the other side of the river.

Getting there

Stadio Olimpico is about 30 minutes’ drive from Leonardo da Vinci International Airport. You can also take the train to Termini, Ostiense, Tiburtina, then follow the signs to the stadium. Local buses also stop at its entrance.
