Location Description:

RT 202 traveling East, and the Inn is about 2.5 miles on the left. -- Directions -- RT 8 South to exit 42. Take a left off ramp, then a left onto 118 going West. Drive 4 miles to the center of Litchfield. Take a right at the stop sign onto RT 202 traveling East, and the Inn is about 2.5 miles on the left.

The only thing left in the area for Labor Day weekend last minute. Beautiful grounds and interesting historic building but room was run down. Dark, damp, wallpaper peeling a bit, bathroom in need of repainting, low-quality mismatched toiletries, no blow dryer. Unique lovely building, very quiet for sleeping and clean, but in need of a facelift and less expensive rooms over tavern are strangely truncated on one side which makes them claustrophobic. Still, a much nicer experience than a lower end chain hotel. And although the bed was strangely high, it was very comfortable. The staff was warm, friendly and knowledgeable and actually walked us to our room and opened the door giving us a brief tour en route. Nice location a couple miles from downtown Litchfield and ten minutes drive to Lake Waramaug. Also close to historic West Cornwall.

Friendly staff, quaint, small grounds, comfy bed. Rooms are too close together, cobwebs in shower, no one behind desk at check in or out. We thought it would be a charming little place that was well-maintained. It did not meet these expectations.
