Description:
Sitting on the dock of the bayThe BAUER HOTEL is a time-honored, family legacy and a testament to the soul and spirit of Venice, much like the soulful sound of Otis Reddings Sitting on the Dock of the Bay, an ode to the marvelous magic of a city. And lets face it, there is no city in the world with the legend, allure and romance of Venice, and there is no better place than the BAUER to experience or to sit back and watch from the dock of the bay. The Bauers 1940s facade was added to emulate a docking ship in both a tribute to Venices renowned maritime history as well as a contemporary contrast to the Baroque architecture of S. Mois Church. The tale continues as you enter its hallowed halls, walked by royalty, legends and luminaries, and see for yourself an intriguing mix of interior dcor. Ancient Venetian art in the form of a wall sketching, Murano glass chandeliers, sconces and sculpture, world-famous Venetian fabrics from the houses of Rubelli and Bevilacqua are all blended with European-style Art Deco furniture and accents as well as contemporary art by both local and international artists for a fresh atmosphere to engage in the culture, intellect, and glamour of Venice. The details make the difference:Social, cultural, intellectual and artistic salon featuring rotating exhibits of contemporary art by international artists Strategic location as a window overlooking the heart of Venetian activity Outstanding views of the famous Chiesa della Salute from terrace seating at the Red Bar Canal, offering rejuvenating aperitifs and snacks, and the opportunity to sit back, relax and watch the Bauers very own S. Mois gondoliers roll by. Intimate fine dining featuring Venetian and Mediterranean-style cuisine in either indoor or outdoor terrace seating overlooking the Grand Canal at De Pisis Gourmet Restaurant. World-class shopping in every direction and just steps from the elegant boutiques in St. Marks Square Private water dock to ease your transportation anywhere in the city Access to fitness center and spa facilities with an array of massage techniques and therapies 91 luxurious and spacious guest rooms and 18 suites For guests who prefer the private residential nature of a Venetian pied- -terre, the BAUER CASA NOVA is a 16th-century home adjoining the Bauer Hotel. Nostalgia and charm fill the 10 bedrooms and 9 luxurious apartments, each with kitchenettes and separate living areas. Connecting doors allow the option of occupying one unit or an entire floor. The Penthouse Suite has two bedrooms and the rare jewel in Venice of a wooden terrace, referred to as an altana. The property is quietly tucked away on a private calle (street), but steps from the hustle and bustle of Venetian life. Guests have direct access to all five-star amenities and facilities of the Bauer Hotel, including 24-hour concierge service, fitness center, private docking privileges and gourmet dining at De Pisis restaurant.

Disappointed with check in process - delayed 2 hours before getting as room, without an explanation. Also emailed hotel directly 1 week prior to arrival to organise airport transfers, hotel only replied 3 days after I returned to the UK. Overall poor front desk service.

The hotel & staff are very professional and pleasant to deal with. The basic rooms are lovely, not huge but the decor is traditional yet modern. The window was just facing out to the courtyard but with the noise of Venice we found the room a lovely haven to come back to. We had a meal on the terrace on our first night and it was so lovely, very romantic. Breakfast is also very good for a european hotel, lots of choice and great setting to wake up and have breakfast to. The location of the hotel is brilliant, 2 mins from St Marks Square but in a quite square so it really was brilliant. The only fault is with the price of drinks at the bar 20 for a glass of prosecco and a bottle of heniken. Our only real gripe: the hotel has a jacuzzi on the rooftop overlooking the canal but you had to pay 70 to use it. For a 5* hotel it should be included in the price. But being ripped off is the same as everywhere in Venice - but it is still the most beautiful city I've been to.

Very good stay. Real 5star level. Deluxe room is small but in Venice is the normal way. Warm and friendly welcoming great staff of reception(giorgia guazzaloca on the top). Noisy air conditioning. Situated in the hearth of the hearth of Venice. I'll come bach surely.

The hotel also allows customers access to their computer and internet services. This is a good way to keep in-touch with family back home while vacationing in Venice.

The hotel was five-star and excellent stay plus we had upgraded suite so fantastic! However, we had a huge problem with Venere.com because the price on the website was unavailable and we were offered far expensive price. I was surprised that the reply and attitude from venere.com who said they have nothing to do with such failure. If so, what is the point of this website. As I felt this is the best and cheapset website I have ever found from hundreads of other websites, it was a huge shame the venere.com has no responsibility or customer hospitality to site users. Anyway we had very stressful time with this problem but hotel and staff were excellent, so we enjoyed our stay in the end.

Overall stay was very good. The only disappointment was concierge's choice of dining. They were not indicative of the quality of restaurants Venice had to offer.

What a wonderful stay! The water taxi brought us straight to our hotel. The hotel was beautiful! There is free internet in the lobby which was perfect for me to do my business. We were only a 3 min. walk to San Marco square. Breakfast was perfect! What a great way to start your day in Venice! View across the canal from the hotel was incredible! The staff spoke English well and were very helpful. We checked around different travel sites for the best rate available. Venere.com had the best rate and we saved $100 per night! What a vacation! We can't wait to go back and bring the kids next time.

The Hotel Bauer is indeed a first class hotel. It privided an excellent base from which my wife and I could explore Venice. The location provides many of Venice's top attractions within a 5 minute walk and we found the terrace at the rear of the hotel the perfect place to relax after a day walking around the city. I would highly recommend the Bauer to anyone visiting Venice.
