Surrounded by lush parklands and historic monuments, Dhoby Ghaut is also close to Singapore’s boutiques found along Orchard Road.

Dhoby Ghaut is one of the best places in Singapore for shopping, starting with the Plaza Singapura shopping mall positioned above the MRT station. Here you can browse through nine levels of retail outlets, including Adidas, Calvin Klein, CRAFTHOLIC and Daiso. If you’re cravings still haven’t been satisfied, stroll down Orchard Road to shop at high street fashion stores, such as Desigual, Victoria’s Secret and Zara.

Orchard Road is also perfect for a quick coffee, afternoon drink or gourmet meal. Duck into the Alley Bar for craft cocktails or Ice-Cold Beer for bar games and, well, ice-cold beers. Brotzeit is perfect for hearty German cuisine, while Trattoria Italian Kitchen dishes up sumptuous Italian fare and fine wine. Stop in at TSUJIRI afterwards for sweet desserts.

Need a place to relax? Dhoby Ghaut Green is an urban park with ever-changing visual art exhibits, an open-air amphitheatre and ample grassy space perfect for kicking back. It’s a short walk from the Istana Heritage Gallery, which houses historical artefacts, artwork and stately gifts concerning Singapore’s earliest government.

From Dhoby Ghaut, head about 550 metres south to reach the National Museum, which dates back to 1849 and houses an enthralling collection of precious artefacts, including early photographs of Singapore and drawings of Singapore’s flora and fauna. It’s across the road from Fort Canning Park, where you can walk through lush gardens, see historical monuments and enjoy concerts in the hilltop parkland.

Dhoby Ghaut is serviced by one main MRT station, which offers easy connections to other Singapore areas. You can walk around all of Dhoby Ghaut and use buses or taxis to travel further.
