Things to do
Spend some of your time in Jurong West at the tranquil Jurong Central Park, which hugs the bank of the Jurong River. Here you can stroll along winding pathways or enjoy a picnic on the grass. Across the road is Jurong Point shopping mall, the largest of its kind in the country, home to international and domestic retailers, Asian restaurants and coffee shops.
Craving some culture? Head to the Singapore Discovery Centre where you can explore informative exhibits on Singapore’s past and future. These include multiple indoor theatres, an outdoor aircraft display and interactive quizzes. The nearby Army Museum of Singapore reveals local military history through interactive weapon simulators, decommissioned vehicles and war memorabilia.
You’ll find plenty of Singaporean boutiques and restaurants along Pioneer Road North, including Big Eater Seafood, which specialises in Asian-style seafood dishes. Afterwards, treat yourself to a sweet dessert at Archipelago Creamery. Duck into Wong Ngee Hock if you’re searching for flavoursome herbs or EFashionysta Boutique for unique fashion accessories.
Jurong West is conveniently placed near some of Singapore’s top nature attractions, where you can see friendly turtles and tortoises at The Live Turtle & Tortoise Museum and the historic Japanese architecture and beautiful gardens within the Japanese Garden. Snow City sits right across Jurong Lake and is renowned for its frozen play areas, including a 60-metre-long sledding slope.
Jurong West is connected to the rest of Singapore via two MRT stations and one bus interchange, which provide reliable transport. You can also use taxis or a private car to get around the district.
