Nice one-story recently refurbished motel which included a rather complete breakfast. Our spacious room had been recently remodeled with very comfortable bed, microwave, fridge, coffeemaker and clean, new bathroom. There are a series of small motor inns along Moonstone - but what an amazing location! There's a boardwalk over a mile long travelling the bluffs and grassland right next to the ocean. It was beautiful, even during our Feb. visit. Sandy beach is a short walk away. We saw an otter at one of the points along the boardwalk. Less than a mile away is East-West Ranch, another fun hiking place, and the town of Cambria has cute shops and eateries. Staff answered our questions well, including finding less "gourmet" (expensive) places to eat in Cambria. We had no other complaints, so no need to guage response. The rooms in the back are closer to interstate 1, but I did not notice noise.

We stayed here on our way back from five nights at the Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay. We had stayed at the the Landings on our way up the coast from Los Angeles. We arrived late and there was no problem checking in. We asked about breakfast places for the next morning and thought it was odd later when we learned that the motel had a complimentary continental breakfast that the desk clerk never mentioned it to us. The room and property setup was typical of most of the motels along Moonstone drive. No real view except of the cars in the central parking lot. but of course the boardwalk is right across the road so you can't get any closer along there to the water. You can hear the waves all night long if you leave your window open. We were surprised in the morning when we went to open our windows to find that they had been unlocked all night. Apparently the housekeeping staff does not lock them when they clean so make sure you check them before turning in. The room came with a video tape player which we found kind of quaint but not very useful for the DVDs we brought. Our bathroom had the same peeling wallpaper and shower mold as described elsewhere but we saw some of the same at the Ritz Carlton and they charged alot more than 159 a night. The toilet seat in our bathroom needed to be replaces as it was showing signs of bubbling paint. But everything worked and we were just looking for a place to sleep before heading out again. The Landings was a bit nicer and brought the breakfast to your room which was nice but it also cost more.

We've stayed on Moonstone Beach Road before, but not this particular motel. It was similar to the others-1960-70 old but clean- great location, great restaurant advice. Was looking forward to the spa which wouldn't stay on- needed maintenance. Price was good..overall fine.

Nice location on Moonstone Beach, well maintained, beautiful gardens, nice breakfast, fireplace in the room. Rooms could use some updating, bathroom was a little dated. All in all, great location, hotel well-maintained, staff was personable and helpful. Breakfast was available in the lobby to take back to the room. Gardens on the property were lovely. Great location on Moonstone Beach, able to walk to some local restaurants. Good value.

The Sea Otter was an great value for the money. As it was cold in Cambria during our visit, the inroom fireplace was really appreciated. We asked to extend our stay and the staff was quite helpful in making sure we could stay in the same room. Our room had a comfortable bed, a table big enough for dining and card playing, an excellent shower, and plenty of storage space in the room and in the bathroom. The ocean was across the street, and two excellent restaurants were only a 5-10 minute walk away.

The easy access to the beach and Highway 1. A nice restaurant close by. Was a nice hotel. Great location. Rooms were excellent with fireplace, although a gas one. Not a true fire place.

Beds uncomfortable; could hear pool pump from neighboring property all night; mold in shower; wallpaper peeling; decorations fell from wall into bed; staff did nothing when a car alarm went off every 2.5 hours during the night and frankly, couldn't care less when we told them of our concerns.

The Sea Otter Inn is accross the street from the Ocean on Moonstone Drive - a great location. The grounds are attractively landscaped and the room quite nicely decorated. Bathroom is a little shabby but clean. No restaurant and breakfast you pick up and take back to your room to eat. In room gas fireplace could be very pleasant in cool weather. Great place to stay while exploring the great wineries in Paso Robles. Also close to Hearst Castle.

Location. Restaurant not part of hotel. Patio looked into flood channel. Did not look at the ocean. The info for this hotel sounded like a dream, I sure am glad that I like to walk. Continental breakfast was less food than a soup kitchen. If you are one minute late you will only have bad left over.

pretty inn just across the road from the ocean. There were harbor seals on the rocks. The beach was rockier than expected. The inn was very clean but one bed was broken and they ran out of breakfast earlly. It was fairly quiet but foggier and cooler than expected. We had a great time though and would stay again

The Sea Otter Inn was charming. Room was on the small side, but very cozy and comfortable. Loved the decor and the gas fireplace. Location was across a small street from beautiful Moonstone Beach. Enjoyed the early morning and late afternoon walks.

The Sea Otter was very pleasant. Terrific location, breakfast pastries were delicious (although the setting to get breakfast was small). The fireplace was a nice touch. The room was spacious, clean and visually gentle, updated and lovely.

"nice room, very clean, across from the beach, fireplace, microwave, refrig, vcr, pool, jacuzzi, continental breakfast. The town closes down about 9pm. The room needs a/c in the summer, or if you run the fireplace too long! nice place to stay."
