Things to do

Spend a morning admiring international and Brazilian works of art at Museu de Arte de Sao Paulo, home to one of the most comprehensive collections of Western art in Latin America. With works by Van Gogh, Picasso and Manet, the art ranges from the Renaissance period right up to the 20th century.

Want a break from the hustle and bustle of the city? Head to Ibirapuera Park, a quiet green oasis located south of the city centre. The park is home to grand monuments, a children's playground and walking trails, where you can take a stroll around the lake in the afternoon sun to unwind.

Head to the Municipal Theatre to enjoy a performance from renowned dancers, singers and local performers. The building is an architectural masterpiece, with a mix of Art Nouveau and Italian Renaissance designs.

After catching a show at the theatre, head to Restaurante Figueira Rubaiyat, an upscale eatery where you can dine on grilled meats and fresh seafood. Try the traditional Brazilian dish of feijoada, a pork stew speciality and a local favourite.

Getting around

Congonhas-Sao Paulo Airport is 30 minutes south of the city centre, while Sao Paulo-Guarulhos International Airport is just over one hour’s drive north. Once in Sao Paulo, make use of the metro, trains and taxis. The city also has designated bike lanes in certain areas.
