The largest convention centre in the Pacific Northwest, the Oregon Convention Center lies on the eastern side of the Willamette River. It’s dominated by two spire-like towers that illuminate the building’s interior and can be viewed from various locations across Portland’s city centre.
The Oregon Convention Center houses two grand ballrooms and 50 meeting rooms, as well as more than 23,000 square metres of exhibition space. It frequently hosts industry trade shows and conventions within a structure that has been LEED Platinum certified for its green architectural design.
Stop at the Visitor Information Desk in the lobby and pick up a self-guided art walking tour, which guides you through the Oregon Convention Center’s extensive public art collection. In addition to the “Mural of Portland”, which depicts urban scenes from the 1950s, the collection includes “Principia”, the world’s largest Foucault pendulum hanging from the north tower.
Getting around Oregon Convention Center
The Oregon Convention Center is easily accessed by trams that stop outside the entrance and is around 10 minutes’ drive from Portland’s Downtown area. Portland International Airport is a 20-minute drive away.
