Stretching almost five kilometres along Virginia Beach and the North Atlantic Ocean, the Virginia Beach Boardwalk is often filled with outdoor enthusiasts strolling, cycling, rollerblading or skateboarding beside the sandy shoreline. It is a hub for social activity during summer, from live music performances on four oceanfront stages to outdoor dining and boutique shopping.
Keep an eye out for the iconic Neptune Statue, a bronze masterpiece depicting the mythological god, Neptune, with a range of marine creatures. You can learn more about the local naval and World War II history in the Naval Aviation Monument Park or check out the memorabilia from shipwrecks and marine rescues at the Virginia Beach Surf & Rescue Museum.
Rent a bicycle from one of the hire shops and cruise along the boardwalk to some of the local shops, such as the fashion-focused The Look Boutique and stylish French Twist Boutique. You’ll also find a wealth of ocean-facing restaurants and cafes, such as Johnny Mañana's Boardwalk Cafe and Tequileria.
