Things to do in Tusayan

Reaching depths of more than 1,800 metres, America's mighty Grand Canyon will make you feel insignificant. It’s one of world's Seven Natural Wonders, dating back around two billion years. Shoshone Point is one of the best places to take in views of the Colorado River as it snakes through the canyon.

For some of the best views in the region, head up to the Desert View Watchtower, a 20-metre-high stone monolith built in 1932. A winding staircase leads up to the lookout platform where you can admire sweeping views over the Colorado River, Navajo Reservation and San Francisco Peaks.

Learn about the incredible geology of the Grand Canyon at the National Geographic Visitor Centre & IMAX Theatre. The film wows viewers with rich Native American history and spectacular aerial footage of the region. It's also a great place to purchase entrance tickets before heading to the park.

Over the years the Grand Canyon has inspired countless artists, including the Kolb brothers. In 1905 they founded Kolb Studio, a small photography workshop, which has since been converted into a museum. Inside you can view original photographs and watch footage of their adventures on the Colorado River.
