One of the most beautiful urban greenscapes in the United States, Rittenhouse Square is located in the heart of Philadelphia’s Center City. It was laid out in the late-17th century on a plan by William Penn and later named after the renowned clockmaker and astronomer David Rittenhouse.
Stroll along paths lined with towering trees or relax on one of the manicured lawns while admiring the luxury high-rise apartments. Rittenhouse Square is centred around a plaza featuring a reflecting pool framed by an ornate balustrade and classical urns with Ancient Greek-inspired figures.
Mingle with locals taking a lunchtime break and residents walking their dogs, then watch families gathering around the statue of “Billy” the goat designed by Philadelphian sculptor Albert Laessle. After visiting Rittenhouse Square, you can explore the charming cafes, fine-dining restaurants and designer boutiques in the surrounding neighbourhood.
