Where to stay in Jumunjin Beach

About Jumunjin Beach

Located in northeastern Gangneung City, Jumunjin Beach is a major fishing and tourism destination of South Korea. The beach’s shallow water makes it especially popular with visiting families.

The fine sands of Jumunjin Beach meet impossibly blue water, but the coastal attraction’s most famous sight is the line of pine trees standing behind the white sands. Fishing and clamming in the nearby lake are popular activities, as is swimming in the beach’s shallow ocean water. For more natural beauty, visitors flock to the nearby Mureung Valley, filled with waterfalls and Korean folklore.

The popular Jumunjin Beach Resort is located just outside Gangneung City in South Korea’s Gangwon-do province. There is a nearby bus stop and a ride on the bus from central Gangneung takes less than 20 minutes.

Jumunjin Beach is quite famous as a film location in South Korea. The rocky pier between Jumunjin Beach and its neighbour Youngjin Beach has been the site of scenes from the drama Goblin, starring Gong Yoo, Lee Dong-Wook and Kim Go-eun. The landscape has also been used as the backdrop for 2000’s film Kilimanjaro.
