Things to do

Knez Mihailova is a mansion-lined boulevard and Belgrade's main shopping zone. Located in the heart of the town centre, the pedestrianised street is home to historic buildings and the ancient Kalemegdan Citadel. Admire the mansions dating back to the 1870s as you hop between boutique shops and quaint cafes.

Once a military fortification, Kalemegdan Belgrade Fortress is now open to the public and is home to a museum and observatory. Inside the fortress is a large park boasting river views. It’s the perfect spot for an afternoon stroll between touring the interior of the fort.

Fancy a beach day? Ada Ciganlija is a river island located on the Sava River and is home to a pebbled beach and recreational area. Make use of the sports facilities here as you swim, sail and bike around the area or head to one of the food vendors set back off the beach for a bite to eat.

For a cultural experience and historical insight, head to the Zepter Museum. The museum is set in a 1920s building, spread out over three floors, and showcases modern art, contemporary Serbian art and temporary exhibitions.

Getting around

Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport sits 18 kilometres west of Belgrade. When in Belgrade, make use of the public transport links, including the extensive network of buses, trolleybuses and trams. Alternatively, you can get around using the commuter rail or taxis.
