About Asan

Sprawling to the south of the Seoul Metropolitan Area, Asan is a lively city that’s renowned for its hot springs and therapeutic spas. It’s a major manufacturing hub for Hyundai and Samsung and home to a diverse array of cultural attractions that range from folk museums to a Santorini-inspired village.

Things to do in Asan

You can delve into the region’s cultural heritage at the Onyang Folk Museum, which was established in 1978 to preserve and showcase local traditions. Browse the artefacts on display in the Main Hall and explore the Gujeong Art Center before getting hands-on with one of the crafting experiences. In addition to making traditional lanterns and spinning tops, live performances also regularly take place.

For a taste of Santorini in the heart of South Korea, head to the Blue Crystal Village. It comprises two streets lined with Greek-inspired architecture and their linking alleys, as well as a peaceful path fringed by Ginko trees. Wander between the whitewashed, blue-roofed buildings occupied by shops and cafes, then have your photo taken with the angel wing backdrop.

Green thumbs shouldn’t miss a visit to the Asan Botanical Garden, an internationally recognised garden planted with more than 3,000 flowering species from across the globe. You can stroll through the themed greenhouses or coincide your visit with one of the hands-on activities that range from creating flower petal handkerchiefs to repotting plants. Not to miss is the parrot enclosure filled with colourful birds.
