Where to stay in Rosebud

About Rosebud

Rosebud is a charismatic seaside town fringed by sandy beaches around Port Phillip Bay. It's set on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula, a region famous for farm-to-table dining, wine and fresh seafood. Spend your time shopping at local farmers markets, admiring coastal scenery and soaking up the town's pioneer history.

Things to do

Rosebud backs onto the serene Port Phillip Bay, known for its sandy beaches, turquoise water and historic rainbow-coloured bathing houses. Spend a lazy day building sandcastles and strolling along the beach, hop on a sailboat charter or kayak around the bay.

At over 300 metres above sea level, Arthurs Seat is the highest point on the Mornington Peninsula. A trail winds up the granite hill and commands sweeping views over Port Phillip Bay. On a clear day you can even see the Melbourne skyline. Alternatively, you can board the Arthurs Seat Eagle gondola and ride to the summit.

The Mornington Peninsula is one of Victoria's top golfing destinations, home to the prestigious Rosebud Country Club. After a leisurely round, enjoy the contemporary cuisine and local wine at the clubhouse, which overlooks the 1st hole.

Dive into local history at the McCrae Homestead and Museum, one of Victoria's oldest farmhouses. It offers a glimpse at Australia's early pioneer days and showcases work from Georgiana McCrae, an Australian painter known for her dreamy watercolours and Aboriginal portraits.

Getting around

Rosebud is easy to get around on foot or using local buses, while a rental car is best for exploring the Mornington Peninsula. The town is an 80-kilometre drive from the Melbourne CBD.
