Where to stay in Kvitfjell

About Kvitfjell

Famed for its excellent snow conditions, Kvitfjell is a popular Norwegian ski resort developed for the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. It lies near the river valley of the Gudbrandsdalslågen, which is traversed by mountain biking and hiking trails that are accessible outside of the snow season.

Take advantage of the beginner, intermediate and advanced alpine pistes of the Kvitfjell Ski Resort, which is a regular stop on the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup. In addition to the challenging Olympiabakken course designed by the Swiss skier Bernhard Russi, the resort boasts 120 kilometres of cross-country pistes and a terrain park.

At the end of the day, you can dine at one of the casual restaurants that cluster in Kvitfjell, with the village known for its peace and lack of party venues. Feast on homestyle fare at Fôr Restaurant, opt for a three-course meal at Prepperiet or experience Norwegian cuisine at Skibaren.

Getting there

Kvitfjell is around an hour’s drive from Lillehammer and three hours from Oslo while Oslo Airport is 2.5 hours away. Regular trains connect to the Kvitfjell railway station, from where it’s a 15-minute taxi ride to the ski resort.
