Established in the 1990s, Bundang-gu is an affluent planned community south of Seoul. It serves as the headquarters of several leading IT companies and encompasses the “Silicon Valley of Korea” in Pangyo. In addition to its European-style cafes and restaurants, Bundang-gu is home to recreational parks and designer fashion stores.
Things to do in Bundang-gu
In the heart of Bundang-gu is Bundang Central Park, a leafy green space home to walking and jogging trails, badminton courts and exercise equipment. You can follow the cycling trail that hugs the Bundang Stream or test your skills on the shady croquet course. Live music performances are regularly held in the outdoor theatre.
You can coincide your visit to Bundang-gu with a show at the Seongnam Arts Center, which hosts everything from opera to ballet and jazz. In addition to the 1,805-seat Opera House, it includes an intimate Ensemble Theatre and the acoustically-impressive Concert Hall. The Seongnam Arts Center is also home to two art galleries where works by both local and international artists are exhibited. Unique gifts and flowers can be found at the on-site Art Shop.
Travelling with kids? Don’t miss a visit to the Hyundai Museum of Children's Books, which is the first museum of its kind in South Korea. It was created to help children better understand themselves and the world’s diverse cultures through reading and writing. The museum houses around 6,000 picture books from across the globe to inspire their imaginations and hosts special exhibits and workshops with leading authors.
