When we first arrived at this property, two of the hotel staff members were standing in an adjacent doorway talking and there was a homeless person laying outside on the steps yelling In front of the hotel. It did not feel like a very safe or welcoming place when we first arrived. I booked this hotel based on all the reviews but I kept wondering if I was at a different hotel. It’s definitely boutique-y and unique but from the moment you walk in it smells musty. Upon check-in they guide you to their sitting area. It was definitely cool but we sat there for a really long time just wanting to get to our rooms. The mold and must smell was overwhelming. The old building surroundings were very interesting but I did not want to sit there for 30 minutes. I was staying with my friend and we had different rooms. Hers smelled like a musty basement, I felt so badly. My room was on a higher floor and did not smell as badly but there were these little black flies that kept buzzing around in the middle of the night. My guess is the higher floors are probably the nicer ones. They offer a breakfast buffet where you can access a little patio and sitting area. The food looked like it had been sitting out for hours and the food on the tray was wet with moisture. Cute potential and nice server staff but the food trays were not very fresh or well-maintained. It was definitely the least nice of the hotels we stayed at during our entire Italy trip. The location was super convenient, that was the highlight.
