We stayed two nights at the Independent Hotel in Rome. Overall, the room was relatively spacious, very clean, and had nice amenities. The bed was comfortable, and it's clear that the hotel had recently been renovated. The view wasn't bad either higher floors would have been even better. We appreciated the location: the hotel is close to the Termini and within walking distance of many attractions. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and they spoke English very well. Although they did try to steer us to hotel owned restaurants a bit, and they took care of everything we needed right away. I especially enjoyed breakfast. Every day there were a good variety of fresh foods available including hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, and more. The breakfast was much better than what you would get at an American hotel. The dining area is on the top floor of the hotel and offers nice views as well. We enjoyed starting the day each morning on top of the hotel with nice food and a view. There are some downsides. The elevator is extremely tiny and has been oddly retrofitted into a small space between the stairs. There are dumpsters sitting out on the street. The hotel isn't especially cheap although it was consistent with other hotels located in central Rome. Overall, though, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Independent and would recommend it to anyone spending time in Rome.
