We stayed for six nights and couldn't have been more delighted. Villa Belvedere is exceptional in many ways, first and foremost in the way it cares for its guests. Many hotels provide a kind of perfunctory service, but Villa Belvedere's cheerful and caring staff outshine every hotel. On the first day I spend more than an hour with one lovely woman at the front desk reviewing recommendations I had received and she enthusiastically provided a wide range of advice on things to do and top restaurants. Over the course of the week, my many questions were always met with enthusiastic responses. The entire staff noted our preferences and remembered them. They also asked the next day whether we enjoyed the restaurants they recommended. The breakfast spread was wonderful the first hotel I've ever stayed in where freshly squeezed blood orange juice is included in the buffet. What a dream. The service team in the breakfast room did an excellent job from day to day keeping the fresh eggs, fruit and cappucino's coming with a smile. Our room had a spectacular terrace. The view was so mesmerizing and the ambiance so peaceful, we spent a lot of time just relaxing on the terrace. We also slept incredibly well. By the end of the week, the Villa Belvedere felt like a home away from home. The kind offer of a late check-out allowed us to enjoy a few more delicious hours soaking up the view of the bay and the luxuriant bougainvillea. But it's more than comfort and good service that makes this family-run hotel special. The hotel owner and staff, the interior decor, and the gardens evoke a less frenetic era when human interactions were more gracious, time moved more slowly and the art of living wasn't about staring at a cell phone. I can't wait to return.
