The Regent is conveniently located near the main and subway stations and just a short stroll to the Marianplartz area. The rooms were good, the breakfast was excellent and there was complimentry gluwein in the lobby in the afternoons. We have stayed in 2 other hotels in this area several times before but this was the best and is where we will stay in the future. Munich is still a great city to visit, especially during the Christmas season. The railway station is being renovated which closed our favourite souvenir shop.
Overall experience was satisfactory although I'm not sure how this is a four star hotel. Location was perfect for me, less than five minutes walk to Munich main train station. Reception staff were pleasant, helpful and spoke good English (important for an Aussie!) My single room had a quite low-to-the-ground single bed, was clean, had a working fridge, no air con but did have a fan. Bathroom was also clean with some wear marks. The room overlooked the station and a tram line on the street below. With the windows open there was of course some noise but not excessive from the 4th floor. Summer heat could be a problem for these west-facing rooms. Breakfast offering covered the usual hot dishes, European cold-cuts, pastry & bakery items, cereals, fruit, yoghurt and coffee from a machine. Both Aldi and a very well-stocked Rewe store located across the road from the main entrance. If I stayed here again I would request a room facing the much quieter rear street.
