    Excellent Hotel

We had the most extraordinary time at this hotel. There's a part on offer here including an astrologer that comes every (I think) night and taught us around the stars and the hotel has designated telescopes to start gaze. There's a northern lights wake-up service. We were called within the night and were fortunate enough to see them. The staff were also so accommodating and showed us how to set-up our camera to take the most excellent photos and provided us with a tripod. Also the hotel gives enormous warm body warmers. There are three hot tubs outside, the rooms are lovely and you get a welcome drink on arrival. I exceedingly recommend this hotel.

    Great Place To Stay

Hotel Ranga, South Iceland Outstanding!!! We were in the area on an excursion and popped in for a meal, unfortunately it was after lunch service. Even though we were not hotel guests, we were treated like family and welcomed to eat in the dining room overlooking the riverside. Our meal was excellent - mushroom soup (truly delicious, ask for the recipe), seafood bisque, hamburger with fries and pan fried fish served with barley, spinach and grilled fennel. This was one of the cheapest meals we ate in Iceland and so delicious; memorable for service, riverside view and kindness of the staff. Thank you Nikki and Mr. Pálsson! I've become your newest ambassador! Hotel Ranga is located in the middle of nowhere, so fabulous for night sky gazing. It's a great place to stay for a couple of days and explore south Iceland. Close to sightseeing must sees. Nothing more I could ask for just continue giving guest the great service that you provide.

    Excellent Place To Stay!

Hotel Ranga is a very firm 4 star lodge style property. Our room was perfectly comfortable but fairly basic, fine for our needs and two nights. The staff super friendly and helpful giving us some great advice on local sight-seeing. The outside hot tubs are for sharing, you don't get one per room and they're not large enough for more than four, but it was wonderful sitting in them with a glass of wine looking out over the river and the stunning views. The restaurant was excellent and the owner who appeared at mealtimes really friendly and welcoming. Prices for wine especially are very steep but that's the same all over Iceland. The bar and lounge upstairs are cozy and comfortable. The hotel has an observatory with telescope for star gazers and they woke us up both nights for Northern Lights. Location of the hotel wasn't a problem for us. It's very much a base for adventuring and Iceland is pretty sparsely populated anyway. From here we went as far as Vik and saw some stunning scenery, waterfalls and glaciers. It was an easy two hour drive from hotel to Reyjkavik Keflavik airport on our departure day. If your flight leaves late you could pit stop at the Blue Lagoon en route.
