This hotel definitely deserves to be part of the small luxury hotels of the world. I would describe it as understated luxury. From check in, breakfast, cleaning, everything seems to happen seamlessly. There is a real sense of calm from the moment you walk in the doors. Stayed 3 nights and we are in a room facing the main entrance street but it wasn't noisy at all, we even had a few of the Bell Tower. It was spacious with a bath tub which was great for soaking after all the walking. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated. My favorite being the elevator wallpaper. The breakfast selection was great with some delicious mille feuille and they also cooked you eggs/bacon if you liked. Take some time to sit downstairs in the lounge area. It was really nice in the late afternoon to play a game a backgammon, edit some photos and just relax. It faces the canal and I imagine in summer, sitting on their deck would be amazing. You also can't beat the location. You are on the canal and can walk everywhere. We walked to the windmills on the outer edge of town and that only took about 20-25 minutes. Getting there is easy, just jump in a taxi at the airport and it is a short ride. It is too far to walk with luggage.
