    Verified Stay

    Strong Choice in Granada

Very good hotel by European standards. It was a fairly large room in the 'older' (historic part of the hotel). The hotel is supposed to be a 'best in class' and I can honestly say I don't think that is true. In the three nights we stayed, we sometimes had a turn down service and sometimes did not, it was quite inconsistent in terms of the overall service. The breakfast in the adjoining 'new' building was nice and they do have a gorgeous courtyard, which is lovely being so close to the city. By virtue of its location and size, there is no ability to drive close to the hotel and coming and going is from the street outside of the hotel entrance, which of course means that upon arrival, you must bring your bags from the street, up the stairs and into the hotel. I would not recommend the room that we stayed in, #23, unless you preferred to avoid stairs. The room occupies the first floor of the hotel and has windows on nearly all sides, which is lovely, except does very little to mask the street noise on one of the busiest streets in the city (including one morning where, no joke, there was a brass band playing during the Granada marathon that was running down that street). Fortunately we were not planning to sleep in, but it was like they were in the room. The room is also only a couple feet from the reception desk and the bathroom shares the wall with the main entrance, which is somewhat comical while you are 'sitting' and guests are arriving and departing up and down the main staircase. Regardless, it was a good room and an overall pleasant stay. This was my second experience with the Hospes brand in Spain and while they have done a very nice job of converting historical buildings into beautiful hotels, I am not convinced that the value matches the price.
