I travel often and have stayed at many places, but I must say it is very rare that I experience a hotel where everyone on the staff - from the front desk, to the restaurant, to the housekeeping, to the spa, to the ski room concierge, and to the General Manager himself - were just 5* exceptional. When I experience this, I know it is a sign of top leadership (Mr. Biner) that resonates with an outstanding team hired, who are happy about caring for these guests. Even during a time when we were snowed in and unable to leave Zermatt when needed, the team handled the scenario professionally and with positivity. All the guests needed to stay longer as we were unable to leave, and the Grand Zermatterhof team managed this, from my perspective, smoothly. I loved my room, which was such a gift to be upgraded for my birthday - thank you. I enjoyed every minute of it, and the utmost kindness from the overall staff. Zermatt was a winter wonderland gorgeous place to be already, and the hotel and team made it even more spectacular of an experience. As for the rest, swimming pool is very nice and really big, a bit cold at 27 degrees for my taste. The spa is OK, nothing to scream about. We only tried 1 of the 3 restaurants for dinner, food was tasty, we would have liked a bit more variety, it was the same menu both times we went there 5 days apart. Breakfast buffet is quite good too. All in all it was a good experience, we will definitely return if we go back to Zermatt next year but with a good pair of ear plugs.
