The hotel was a monastery, it is incredibly preserved, of great architectural beauty, full of works of art, with a divine chapel, a beautiful patio where you can have breakfast. The breakfast buffet is very good quality and the waiters are attentive and very helpful. The room is small for the type of construction, but it is very warm, with many amenities and details. The bed is very comfortable, with a very good selection of pillows, the amenities of the bathroom of good quality, with a tub to relax after the tours. Being a special date for us we were welcomed with a bottle of champagne, a wonderful detail by the hotel. In his restaurant there are opera nights, a must. The hotel is near Plaza de Armas, so you can walk to many places of interest.

    1600's Chapel

When we arrived we were stunned by the elegance of the lobby/bar area. The staff took us through the most relaxing and civilized check-in I can ever remember: sat us down in a comfy area, brought us tea, and only then asked us to fill in the registration paperwork. We arrived too early to get into our rooms, which we knew would be the case, but it was a little frustrating that they told us they'd be ready by 1 PM, and when we returned after lunch around 2 PM, only one of the 3 rooms was ready. I completely understand they need time to clean them, but I don't appreciate being given a time that has no bearing on reality. The rooms were clean, comfortable, spacious, and we particularly appreciated the shutters to close out the daylight and the minimal street noise. The bathroom was very nice as well. The breakfast buffet was a complete delight, and the items you could order off the menu in addition to the buffet were nicely sized. Fun touch having the Gregorian chants in the background. The bar at the hotel is great. Drinks were well-made, and when one night we asked about a deck of cards, someone actually ran out on a rainy night to buy a pack for us! The really neat property, and don't forget to check out their chapel from the 1600's. Never forget this travel.

    Exceptional Property!

This hotel exudes absolute charm. We stayed 7 nights and it would rate as one of the best hotels we have ever visited. The architecture and history are alone worth the visit. The whole place runs like a well oiled machine full marks to the Belmond organization. Staff are friendly & efficient, service and inquiry calls are answered within 5 minutes with a polite phone call to advise a staff member is awaiting outside your door. Breakfasts were incredible in freshness, variety and quantity, top marks to Nelson for service. The concierge staff were equally organized & helpful, restaurant recommendations were spot on. Our room was a one level suite overlooking the rear courtyard, it is spacious, quiet and superbly serviced. All the previous rave reviews are not exaggerated - this place is incredible. Highly recommended.
