We booked a smoking room and when we checked into our room in was beautiful but not smoking, I rang back reception and was moved to a smoking room that was nowhere near the standard of the first room. For the same price I felt discriminated to have crap room for smokers and good rooms for non smokers. For example room 1 had robes, slippers, bottles of water etc, room 2 barely had heating. I would not reccomend this hotel if you smoke.

Car park is very far away from the hotel - especially when you consider Irish weather.

Great hotel, although room was disappointing. Fantastic staff and easy to get to from the airport!!

The staff were friendly and had a good knowledge of the area recommending places to eat etc. We found the Spa well worth a visit - though guests need to pre-book into the Spa - charged at a 50% discount. We opted for room service breakfasts and the first morning it was delicious. However, we had to leave the hotel early the 2nd day and were told we couldn't have a hot breakfast until 7.30am but were offered an alternative 'Continental' - the rubbery 'almost toast' with marmalade, 2 packets of cereal, 1 pot of tea and no butter was a huge disappointment - having had a thoroughly enjoyable stay, it was not the lasting memory we expected!

The Imperial Hotel was a lovely place stay and very convenient to the city centre. Most of the hotel staff were very friendly and more than helpful (with the exception of a couple of miserable and quite rude waiters). The room we had in the Executive Suite was adequate although definitely not memorable, (very narrow with a poor outlook). South's Bar in the hotel was superb and all bar staff were great. I would recommend the hotel on the basis of its location, the fact that its the oldest hotel in Cork and the friendly service we received however E160.00 per night for the so-called "Executive Suite" is expensive and is not good value for money. I would stay in the Imperial Hotel again but only if they were putting on a "Weekend Deal" or something similar.

Excellent genuine 4* hotel in the middle of Cork City. Great clean and comfortable room room, excellent breakfast. Hotel parking is 5 minute walk away but convenient enough. Didn't try restaurant for dinner or spa facilities. Excellent price on this website. Would highly recommend and would not hesitate to stay here again when travelling to Cork.

Quite easy to find but no car park on site. Car park 10 min walk and charge of 6euros. Baggage can be unloaded at front of hotel tho. The restaurant was very pleasent but no real atmosphere, and the food was ok, i returned mine but my husbands was very good. I was dissappointed that what i thought was a swimming pool was in fact only a plunge pool. In our room it was also impossible to actually sit on the toilet squarely because of the towel rail position, room 116.

We cannot recommend this hotel due to the noise from the street outside. We were on the fourth floor (409) which overlooks a side street where loud live music played until 2am making it impossible to sleep even with the window shut. The noise coming from a pub therefore outwith the control of the hotel. Other rooms in the hotel may be okay but would not take the risk in using this hotel again. On the second day we had to request our room to be cleaned which was done immediately, this was at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. Had lunch in the brasserie which was no more expensive than the rest of Cork and the quality of the food was very good. The hotel is situated centrally in Cork the airport bus stops outside and with bus and train stations close at hand it is convenient for travellers. Cannot fault the staff who were very friendly and helpful. It is also close to the main shopping area. Having read other reviews regarding the noise we did request a quiet room and if this had been honoured then we could have recommended this hotel.

Hotel is well-situated but the room was a bit drab and dull. The hotel is a bit old-fashioned and for some reason, the floors appear to be on a slope! Room 128 was situted on the 1st Floor above a pedestrian walkway which was always busy, even at night. From 2am onwards, the pubs empty and the voices echo around the street. From 5.30 am onwards, the delivery trucks arrive unloading what seem like hundreds of beer barrels outside the window. Once they move on the refuse truck arrives and the noise starts all over again. If you stay here bring earplugs. Even with the windows closed, the noise was unbearable.

Great hotel in a great city centre location. Close to shops and also many bars and restaurants closeby. I stay here every time i visit cork as the spa is fantastic and access to vitality suite is complimentary when in business/superior room. Free internet access too. Only negatives are that the hotel and the rooms are very warm and there is no air con. Also no mini bar, room service menu limited and not a lot of healthy options, you can only get a 1/4 bottle = 1 lg glass of wine from the room service menu rather than a half/full bottle and the wine list is limited and basic considering the star status of the hotel.

Not clear that spa is extra cost to enter even for hotel guests- 15 euro just to use the jacuzzi and steam room!

Hotel was nice in a central location. Food and drink in restaurant and bar was reasonable. Room was comfortable but noise was a big problem. Drunks singing outside room window which overlooked side street at first floor level between 1am and 3am on a Monday. This was followed by a beer delivery lorry between 4.30 and 5.30 dropping beer barrels and rolling them along the street. Then the bottle recycling lorry turned up at 6.00. The noise was really bad all through the night so I would not stay again if faced with thesame room. Hotel staff agreed it was noisy and merely advised that at least we didnt live down the side street like some flat owners do!

Great location. Good quality hotel with attentive, pleasant staff. The prices were quite top-end, to be honest, but as the service was so good, it did not feel completely unjustified. My only problem was the fact that the Spa is for over 16's only - I had my teenage daughter with me and we were not able to use the Spa, which had been our main reason for choosing the hotel. Rather disappointing for that reason alone.

We had a very enjoyable stay in the Imperial - we were attending a wedding in the hotel so we didn't eat in the restaurant per se, but the food served for the wedding was lovely. Our room was a little small, but not cramped. Although it appears that you have to park on the street, in fact once you check in at reception they can give you details of the nearby parking available to guests of the hotel.
