About Whistler

At the base of North America’s largest ski resort, Whistler is a chalet-style pedestrian village in the spectacular Coast Mountains. The peaks of Whistler and Blackcomb mountains soar above and provide a powder-coated setting for skiing, snowboarding and tobogganing.

Things to do in Whistler

Whistler Blackcomb boasts a huge variety of terrain that suits skiers and snowboarders of all levels. There are 37 lifts that access more than 200 runs across the two mountains, as well as four terrain parks, a snow-cross track and a “superpipe” flat-bottomed bowl for extreme snow sports.

Two gondolas run year-round from the Skiers Plaza in Whistler Village to Whistler Blackcomb, with the 25-minute ride offering magnificent views across the slopes. If you’re visiting outside of the snow season, the gondolas also give hikers a shortcut for accessing the backcountry trails.

Another popular destination in Whistler during the summer is Lost Lake Park, which lies just to the east of the village. It features a small beach and warm waters for swimming, as well as plenty of walking and cycling trails to discover.

If you’re interested in exploring on two wheels, visit during the summer or autumn months when the Whistler Mountain Bike Park is in operation. It includes more than 50 runs across 1,500 metres in elevation, with single trails, fast race tracks and challenging jumps.

Getting around Whistler

Vancouver International Airport is the closest airport to Whistler, located around 90 minutes’ drive south of the village. The Whistler Mountaineer train makes a daily journey between North Vancouver and Whistler during the ski season, while the village is best explored on foot.
