About Barbados West Coast

The West Coast of Barbados is often called the “Gold Coast” or “Platinum Coast”, thanks to its postcard-perfect beaches with golden sand and blue-dappled water. Comprising the parishes of St James, St Peter and St Michael, the West Coast also offers picturesque golf courses, beachside massages, waterside fine-dining restaurants and cultural festivals.

You’ll likely be spending most of your time at the beach, so don’t miss Mullins Beach, where casuarina trees overlook white sand and cocktail-blue water. Alternatively, you can visit Batts Rock for some excellent snorkelling around small reefs or sunbathe on the soft, golden sand at Payne’s Bay Beach.

Looking for a bit of luxury? Organise a private yacht charter to cruise around the coast of Barbados or indulge in award-winning Italian-style dishes of seafood and local produce at Daphne’s, which has attracted celebrities like Rihanna. Don’t forget to explore some of the local culture at Holetown, the oldest settlement in Barbados where you can purchase handmade clothing, jewellery and handicrafts at Chattel Village.

Getting there

The West Coast of Barbados is best explored by first flying into the capital city, Bridgetown, via Grantley Adams International Airport. You’ll find numerous hire car companies in the city to access West Coast towns like Holetown, Speightstown and Fitts Village.
