Where to stay in Sara Buri

About Sara Buri

Saraburi Province is a region alive with art, culture and history. It's home to some of Thailand's most beautiful Buddhist temples and Ayutthaya Kingdom ruins, while Khao Yai National Park and the Tham Bo Pla cave network showcases Thailand's wild natural beauty.

Things to do

Perched in the north-west of Saraburi Province, Wat Phra Phutthabat is an ancient Buddhist temple built atop one of Buddha's footprints. A steep staircase leads up to a hilltop pavilion where you can admire colourful ceramic tiles, intricate mother of pearl artwork and sweeping views of the countryside.

Saraburi, the lively provincial capital, is set on the Pa Sak River. The town was founded in the 16th century and is dotted with ancient architecture dating back to the Ayutthaya Kingdom. Spend your time relaxing at riverside cafes and visiting local temples like Wat Siburi Rattanaram, which houses a smiling statue of Buddha.

Stay in Saraburi for easy access to Khao Yai National Park, where you can explore over 2,000 square kilometres of lush monsoon forest. Hiking trails lead to cascading waterfalls like Haew Suwat, which is featured in Danny Boyle's cult classic film, "The Beach". Pack your binoculars and watch for wild elephants, gibbons and hornbills.

Adventurists will love exploring the various cave networks strewn across Saraburi Province. Carved into the base of a mountain, Tham Bo Pla is filled with shimmering stalactites and stalagmites. It features three main caverns, including one illuminated by a natural skylight and another housing a crystalline fish pond.

Getting around

Saraburi Province is well-serviced by local buses that run to cities and towns across Thailand. Trains run from Bangkok to Saraburi in around two hours. The town of Saraburi is easy to get around on foot or by using local tuk-tuks and taxis.
