Where to stay in Bridgnorth

About Bridgnorth

A former bustling river port, Bridgnorth now offers a relaxing getaway filled with scenic walking paths, diverse wildlife and river fishing. Bridgnorth is also home to museums, country parks, castles and gardens.

Things to do

Hop aboard the vintage electrical funicular Bridgnorth Cliff Railway, which transports you up and down the steep sandstone cliffs dividing the High Town from the Low Town of Bridgnorth. Disembark to see the Bridgnorth Town Hall on High Street, which was built in 1652 and now houses historical artefacts.

Walk on the Geopark Way, a famous trail that runs through Bridgnorth, the Abberly and Malvern Hills. Stop along the way to learn about geology and landscapes spanning millions of years. At Bridgnorth Castle and Gardens, you’ll find yourself on a sandstone cliff peering over the Severn Valley from the remains of a castle leaning precariously at 15 degrees.

Travelling with the family? Head out to Ray Farm Country Matters, a haven for more than 50 owls as well as deer, guinea pigs and reindeers. You can even walk through a pygmy goat paddock.

Drive 15 minutes to Wonderland, a magical theme park with fairy-tale houses, including Snow White’s cottage and the Crooked House. You can also roam through a dinosaur valley, get lost in a crazy maze and dig for gemstones at the Seven Dwarfs Diamond Mine.

Getting around

The funicular railway offers transport between the Low and High Towns and city buses and taxis traverse the main streets. You can rent a car at Birmingham Airport, about 45 kilometres away.
