This gem of a colonial edifice, The Claridges Hotel, New Delhi, is the place to stay while in India's national capital. Most professional staff, courteous and helpful welcome you with most friendly smile. Registration is quick, efficient, hassle free. Rooms are unlike usual five star modern hotels. They are more like own home rooms, they are well furnished, very lighted with decent size, bathrooms are good size, in mine, it had separate shower. It was well provided for in all toiletries. Large flat screen, wall mounted TV was rightly sited opposite bed for comfortable viewing. Efficient domestic staff kept the room clean, tidy, replaced used toiletries daily. I did not use swimming pool, health, spa so I can not comment. The gem is The Dhaba serving choicest, most delicious Indian dishes. This is a delight for all. The chef Mr. Sweety Singh take personal interest in helping select items for the guests which is really very helpful. He is a gem, I must admit. While staying, a visit to this restaurant is a must. My only disappointment wasn't being able to get good English breakfast. I found breakfast more India centrist than Western centrist and speaking of staff, they were always there with smile to help. One surprise was free WiFi for a limited number of days. Unlike rest of the world, Indian hotels charge hefty fee to connect to WiFi.
