    Verified Stay

    This Is Superb!

If you ever find yourself in Brussels, then Hotel Amigo is the place to stay. It is located a stone throw away from the Grand Place which is the center of the old town and is within easy walking distance to all amenities and transport. The hotel itself seems to be in a heritage building and is definitely luxurious in an understated manner. Paintings, antiques and sculptures dot the corridors and rooms attesting to a quiet pride in all things Belgian. The room itself was comfortable and well furnished. The real thing that is impressive in this hotel is the service. There is a definite culture of trying to ensure guests have a pleasant stay that permeates all levels of the organisation from kitchen staff to front of house staff. Nothing is too much trouble and all done with a quiet modest efficiency. There are not many downsides to the hotel. The only oddities worth mentioning is that breakfast is definitely only continental from Mondays to Thursdays with hot food costing an extra 6 euro. On Fridays - Sundays there is the addition of scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages included in the buffet. The hotel restaurant is touted as the best Italian restaurant in Brussels. The food is pleasant but my local Italian in Sydney is much better. Go to the la Roue dOr (3 minutes walk) for much better food, Flemish style. Finally, the concierge service is outstanding. The staff were all approachable and knowledgeable. Special mention goes to Helem who never put a foot wrong in her recommendations and was a warm friendly face who greeted you by name every morning.
