    Enjoyable Stay!

After Check in, we started with a fantastic buffet at the Hotel restaurant, we hadn't eaten all day and it was such a pleasure to replenish our stomachs with such wonderful cuisine and the Chef also took the trouble to ask after our meals. My friend even got his shoe polished in the ATM gallery while I was drawing cash and that's the first time I had come across a shoe polish machine. From the concierge to the bell hops, every member of staff was courteous and helpful and just made my stay, the best ever personal hotel experience I've had in Nigeria and I intend to keep going back again and again.

    Very Good!

The Ikeja GRA area is very calm, quiet, very suburban like as opposed to other parts of Lagos making this a very quiet hotel with no street noise or people in the streets. Hotel is very modern, rooms are small decent for European standards but small for American. The bathroom is large with a large walk-in rain shower, it was divine, large tub and lots of upscale amenities. The Hotel has one restaurant with a daily breakfast buffet (with omelet station, fruit station, pastries and local and international breakfast foods) daily lunch and dinner buffet with lots of variety. It also has a bar where you can order snacks and drinks overlooking the very trendy pool area surrounded by cabanas an pool loungers. The room service is very limited so try to eat the buffet and grab an apple or banana for your late night munching.

    Comfortable But Shortcomings

This is an okay hotel in mainland Lagos. Rooms are comfortable, if compact, and furnishings are of a reasonable standard, and also reasonably maintained. Rooms are also clean, and room service good. The hotel also has a small outdoor pool, and a small gym. There was a good selection of food at breakfast, although I do not understand the point of putting out tea bags, milk and cups for self service but then having to ask the staff for hot water? Staff were helpful and pleasant, and overall, this is a comfortable hotel. So, what are the shortcomings? First, the WiFi is atrocious, and it is impossible to carry out any online work or communications. Add to this the poor phone reception, the regular electricity outages, and intermittent TV reception, and your stay can become very frustrating. The nearby Sheraton provides good internet, and has emergency generators, so the problem is not insurmountable. If Protea wishes to retain business visitors (and lets face it, the majority of guests are), then they need to invest in these areas.
