I would love to give this beautiful, small hotel a 5 star rating, but the sleeping room we had was so small and poorly designed that I can't do it. This hotel is set along the Ping River, with wonderful river views and ambiance. The central courtyard is dominated by a huge, glorious tree. The inviting pool is in the center and the sleeping rooms are aligned along the sides. Beautiful indoor/outdoor dining area with lovely food. Very charming. Our room, however, was teeny-tiny, cramped, and poorly designed. No dresser, no drawers, no hooks, teeny closet with safe about 3 inches above the floor. Essentially no place to put anything. Only one luggage rack. Light fixture at one side of the bed. One mirror only in the bathroom. Tub was reached by walking through the shower. Big sink, little counter space and no hooks for towels. No desk or chair in the room. Only place to sit was outdoors on the small patio impossible at dusk because of the mosquitoes. I really felt that that the designers had never actually stayed on property themselves in a standard room, or they could have made some changes. It would be so easy to add a full-length mirror, a chest with some drawers and some clothes and towel hooks. Other members of our group said the same about their rooms. The staff was really wonderful, and when I commented about the room size, they said the best room to have is the Romantic Lanna Royal Deluxe in the 3 story with elevator building. No matter what, to fully enjoy your stay here, take a better than a standard deluxe room. Then it would be nirvana.
