The lack of a lift to the upper floors was a considerable drawback as my sister-in-law was recovering from cancer treatment. To reach the room we had to negotiaite a number of stairs. The hotel was not suitable for disabled or elderly people who had difficulty climbing stairs. The staff were helpful and friendly. The hotel was set in beautiful grounds with pleasant walks through the pine trees

affordable luxurywe booked for a night on a spur of the moment short trip .we paid a few pounds extra for a superior room and we were not dissapointed.a lovely big room with balcony overlooking quiet and perfectly manicured grounds. it was a glorious day in pitlochry which added to the experience. friendly staff and a lovely breakfast made us annoyed that we could only stay one night.we cant wait to return for a longer break.we couldnt fault it .cant wait to return for a longer stay.

Pine Trees HotelWe enjoyed our short stay very much and have no critisms of any aspect. The hotel grounds were well kept and pleasant to walk round or relax with a drink at one of the picnic tables.

Pine Trees Hotel, PilochryAn excellent hotel in beautiful surroundings. THere are plenty of walks in the area and Pitlochry has a wide range of shops, not to mention a wonderful theatre with a different play each evening during the season.Well appointed rooms, ours had a small balcony with a table and chairs next to the flag pole. The welcome was friendly and as it was off season the hotel was not too busy. The lounge is as one would expect in a country house hotel and the log fire added to the pleasure. There are plenty of board games and reading material if you just want to sit and relax. There is NO piped music. The food is good and the house wine inexpensive. The bottled water in old fashioned bottles adds to the charm. For the connoiseur the range of single malt whiskies in the bar is exceptional. Not only that there are two distilleries within easy striking distance. One of the Edradour, is the smallest distillery in Scotland. All in all excellent value for money.

What a great placeStayed for the one night. Didn't eat evening meal in the hotel but came back for a couple of drinks. Bumped into a couple we knew who said the food was excellent. Great ambiance in the place with open fire, lots of leather settees and wonderful country house feel to the place. Service was good and the room was fine. Would definitely go again.

Pine Trees Hotel reviewA warm and friendly welcome with all staff being polite and helpful. The room was spacious with a good sized ensuite bathroom. The smoked haddock for breakfast was excellent.I would happily recommend this hotel and if I'm ever back in Pitlochery, then I would have no hesitation in re-booking to stay here.

pine trees experienceThe hotel was very impressive, our room was beautiful and spotless and we were also impressed by the location which is peaceful and private within its own grounds. The staff were pleasant and helpful. My only slightly negative observation is that the girls on reception were rather serious. To be fair one girl seemed to be in training and both were pleasant but I think a warm smiley welcome is always good ! In general though I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and wished I could have stayed longer.

A little more room pleaseThis trip was with my wife to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were allocated a 'double' en suite room. The bedroom area was around 3 metres by 3.5 metres which meant there was no area to sit other than the bed and the furniture looked crammed into the space. The condensation on the windows was really bad, especially in the morning when it was literally running down the panes of glass. The bathroom fittings were cheap looking , which was a shame as the general appearance of the public areas was good. When I registered my dissapointment at reception re the size of the room, I was told that this was a small room ( described as a standard) but there was nothing else available. I was offered nothing to address my dissapointment except a blank stare. A customer service training requirement here I think. Had the hotel at this point, shown that it understood our dissapointment by some small gesture or a better attitude, then our weekend would not have been spoiled. We arrived at the hotel before 4 p.m. so I assume that we could have been given another room. I wonder if the fact that we booked the accommodation late and at a slightly discounted price determined the allocation.Other things niggled as well e.g the bottle of water on the table at dinner seemed to be tap water in a reusable glass bottle but there was a £1 charge for it. There was a note which said you could ask the waiter to take it away, but why should you have to opt out? One positive factor - the waiting staff were friendly, unintrusive yet attentive, but overall a thoroughly dissapointing stay.

Nice hotel, very helpful staff, food menu a little restricted and very expensive £27.50 for a 8oz steak and a bowl of soup took the edge off the cheap room. I would recommend and stay here again but go out for food.

I thought the food was rushed and there was no time between courses. I think considering they have a AA Rosette for food it should have been better. the hotel and room was excellent though.

The hotel was in a good location for the village and was set in pleasant wooded grounds. The staff were helpful, polite and attentive. It was a good base for a trip but wouldn't be ideal for those looking for a bit of social activity. The age profile was mostly of older people and the hotel bar, for example, was closed and in darkness by eleven o'clock. In all, it was good value for a stay and wouldn't hesitate to use it again.

Dinner was disappointing, not much choice on the menu and very mediocre however breakfast was very good. Restuarant and bar areas were nice and waiting staff very efficient. Reception staff could have been friendlier/more helpful. Room was also a little disappointing, smaller than i thought it would be.

We stayed in the suite which was very spacious with lovely garden views. Staff all very pleasant and smartly dressed. Dinner and breakfast were delicious and piping hot.

This hotel was very comfortable, spotlessly clean and provided a sense of good old-fashioned family values. Lots of room to chill out after dinner on comfortable couches with board games/reading material etc. The bedrooms, which were very well appointed , were in the process of being up-graded with air-conditioning/heating. The hotel was easy to find and situated in beautiful wooded gardens. The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and attentive. When compared to hotels with modern facilities e.g. swimming pool/leisure complex etc. it was relatively expensive for DBB however the overall experience more than justified the price. We were so impressed we booked for Hogmanay and New Year. Cheers!
