Normally held in March, the first of the two European Grand Slams has taken a bit of a backspin in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, this year’s sets will be served from late September 20 to October 4.  However, should the tournament go ahead, fall at Roland-Garros may very much be a blessing in disguise. And that’s not just because you have a few extra months to nab luxurious hotels near the French Open.

In addition to bringing some top-quality games sets and matches to the clay, late September in Paris features a packed social calendar. Wildcards withheld, you’ll be able to kick off your two weeks in the City of Lights with Techno Parade, Paris’s biggest public electronic music event on September 19. Meanwhile, all-night art fest Nuit Blanche will open museums, galleries, and exhibitions across through the early hours on October 3. Those that linger until October 7 can raise a glass of rouge to their stamina at the Montmartre Wine Harvest.

With 400 million annual visitors to Hotels Combined, we’ve compiled the best hotels near the French Open. These courtside lodgings put you right on the doorstep of the best to see, sip, and sup on in Europe’s most charismatic city.

What About Tickets?

First off, don’t worry if you purchased tickets for the original springtime fixtures. You exchange them for tournament tickets in September or receive a refund if you can’t make the new dates. We feel assured that there’ll be more from Roland-Garros on the mechanics of that in the coming days.

For everyone else, tickets are in short supply. Most had already been snapped up from Tennis Tours at the time of writing, with the very notable exception of the Women’s Semi-Finals and Men’s Finals. If that’s changed by the time you’re reading this, have no fear. All the way up to the matches themselves, the official website runs a resale service for people looking to sell their tickets.

If you’ve no such luck, you’re still not too late to join the party. The official website also sells outside court passes throughout the tournament for only €20—note: these can not be bought at the ticket gates themselves. Especially during the week proceeding the main draw, this is your chance to see some top talent, as the passes grant you access to the outdoor qualifying matches. To add to the excitement, a day pass on the last day of play will also get you access to the “We’re All Going to the Final” screening, which is projected right outside the center court.
