Things to do in Ren-ai Township
Taroko National Park protects a verdant gorge carved by the Liwu River. It’s one of nine national parks in Taiwan and boasts some of the country’s most scenic hiking trails. Some local favourites include Swallow Grotto and the Baiyang Trail, which takes you to hidden caves and waterfalls.
Set in an alpine meadow, Qingjing Farm is surrounded by towering peaks. The farm is an iconic Ren-ai Township attraction and will charm you with its crisp mountain air and stunning views. Stroll around the postcard-perfect Little Swiss Garden, wander through the fruit orchards and walk past sheep and cows grazing in the emerald-green pastures. Horse-riding shows and sheep-shearing competitions are just some of the family-friendly events held at Qingjing Farm.
Developed during the Japanese era, Lu-shan Hot Spring is perfect for soothing tired muscles. The open-air pools are fed by mineral-rich underground springs that will leave your skin feeling silky soft. Eggs boiled in the bubbling hot springs are a local delicacy.
Indigenous Seediq, Atayal and Bunun peoples have lived in Ren-ai Township for hundreds of years. Ren-ai Township is dotted with local shops selling traditional souvenirs such as colourful hand-loomed clothing and carved wooden ornaments.
Getting there
Ren-ai Township is located in Nantou County in Central Taiwan. Rental cars are the easiest way to explore Ren-ai Township at your own pace. The region is a one-hour drive from Taichung City and three hours from Taipei. Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport is a 2.5-hour drive away.
