Things to do in Tak

The Thung Yai Naresuan, Khlong Lan and Mae Wong national parks form one of Southeast Asia's most extensive natural forests. The wildlife corridor also includes the Um Phang and Huay Kha Kaeng wildlife sanctuaries, where you can explore self-guided nature trails, stroll through giant bamboo forests and spot exotic birds.

Tak Province offers some of Thailand's best waterfall chasing opportunities, particularly at the 200-metre-high Nam Tok Thilawsu. It's the country's biggest waterfall, cascading into crystalline pools perfect for swimming. Don’t miss seeing Nam Tok Thararak, which tumbles over limestone cliffs.

Set on the Myanmar border, Mae Sot is one of Thailand's most culturally diverse cities, dotted with beautiful Burmese temples and atmospheric tea houses. The bustling Municipal Market is a fantastic place to pick up jade and gemstone jewellery, as well as handicrafts, incense and sizzling street food.

Adventure seekers can head to Tham Ta Khu Bi, a cave system set on the Thai–Myanmar border. On your way, visit Wat Phanit, a Buddhist temple surrounded by emerald jungle.

Getting around Tak

Mae Sot is a gateway to Tak Province, offering bus and minivan connections to cities, towns and villages across Northern Thailand.
