The Pat Conroy Literary Centre celebrates the legacy of one of South Carolina's most famous authors. Over the decades Beaufort has served as a backdrop for countless Hollywood films, including “Forrest Gump” and “The Big Chill”. The Ribaut Social Club is one of South Carolina's top-tier restaurants, housed in a refurbished mansion once owned by a US Navy admiral. Getting around

Beaufort's pedestrian-friendly streets are best explored on foot. You can also ride in a horse-drawn buggy or rent a bicycle. Beaufort is 110 kilometres from Charleston International Airport and 75 kilometres from Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport.
