This resort is a truly magical place in Phuket. The staff are courteous, professional, and ever-solicitous. And the facility itself is a true bit of paradise. We splurged on an ocean-view suite with private infinity pool - our room was 8843, in our opinion, the best room in the hotel. We enjoyed a panoramic view of the beach and hillside (including the Big Buddha), and a room of pure luxury, with two outdoor sitting areas, the aforementioned pool, a Victorian bathtub, spacious shower, king bed, and ample closet and storage space. There are a lot of steps down to the beach, but the pleasant and ever-available 'bulky-car' drivers will happily fetch you and return you again to your room. Breakfast and bar service were exemplary, and the views of the sea, especially at sunset, were unforgettable. The beach is managed by The Shore and its sister resort, the Katathani Beach Resort, and is not a public beach. It is clean and very pleasant to stroll, sunbathe, swim, or just gaze upon from the beach-side bar or your room. During our stay, we had an issue with a wood carving we purchased that we wanted to ship back to US. The staff went out of their way to assist us in figuring out how to manage it. The restaurants on premise are solid, but for the slightly adventurous, walk a block to the local restaurant, Jaojong Seafood, and avoid the pages of their menu catering to Westerners. Their Thai dishes, especially seafood, were among the best we had in Thailand, if you have a hankering for authentic Thai flavors. For a romantic getaway, we can't think of a better place in Phuket, or almost anywhere.
