We arrived at the hotel in the evening, but the lady at the check in desk was very quick and efficient, checking us in promptly and showing us to our room which was in one of the adjoining buildings. I must say throughout our stay the ladies at reception were always very friendly, helpful and smiling. Our room was on the first floor and was clean and bright. Although it felt a little on the small side, this wasn't an issue for us and it provided everything that we needed for our stay, including a safe and hairdryer. The shutters that covered the windows at night were fantastic; they completely blocked the light out if you wanted it totally dark. Unfortunately, due to our rooms proximity to the front door, we could often hear this opening and shutting when people came in late at night or went out early in the morning. It wasn't too much of an issue as I always bring ear plugs wherever I travel but it did wake my partner up a few times. Also, I did feel that our bed wasn't the most comfortable; the mattress was a bit too soft for me and also the whole bed felt a little wobbly and unstable - if either of us moved throughout the night the other was woken up as a result. I really loved the decor of the communal areas of the hotel, with an array of beautiful instruments on show. The roof terrace and Jacuzzi were one of the main reasons I booked this hotel, and it was a lovely little sun trap up there. The perfect spot to kick back after a day of exploring and have some pre-dinner drinks. We had breakfast one morning up on the roof terrace which was nice, and the views of the Cathedral are fab! There are a few sun loungers provided for sunbathing on warmer days; but although the week we visited was lovely and sunny sadly it wasn't the warmest so we didn't get to try these out. For us, the location was excellent.
