Definitely a repeatGreat hotel, good location and excellent value for money, although having an upgrade contributed!!
Date of Stay:
July, 2009
The rooms were small and simple, yet modern and minamilistic. The showers could use an improvement along with the bed blankets (we were freezing)and the air/heating unit was impossible to figure out. The staff also double booked our room (thanks) and sent a new client into our room at a late our without an apology.

We found the room excellent value and the beds comfortable. We thought the restaurant bar prices were expensive but there are plenty of good pubs nearby.

Very modern, clean and comfortable. My only criticisms were that the double glazed window wouldn't shut properly, so there was a bit of traffic noise, the air conditioner was a bit temperamental and the roller binds didn't block the light very well.

My 7 year old son and I stayed at the Vulcan Hotel during our 11 day trip to Sydney. The staff was always helpful and friendly. Rooms were always clean! Courtyard was a nice place to relax. Easy access getting to where we were going. If ever back in Australia we will be staying at the Vulcan Hotel again!

Good value for moneyVery good value for money hotel. Staff friendly and helpful. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to stay in Sydney.

Everything was satisfactory. As we were gone all of the day each day we can address the sleeping period which was very satisfactory. It is a 10-15 minute walk to Darling Harbor area where there are many restaurants and other attractions.

The room we had was very small and the two single beds were tiny. shower water hot enough but only a dribble, not even a shelf in the bathroom to put your your toothbrush. Towels also small.reminded me of uk and european rooms.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Vulcan Hotel for several nights during our vacation. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was very much a boutique style hotel that was welcoming even though the interior style could be called modernesque. The hotel is close to the train station and it sits on the edge of the Technology College of Sydney giving several dining options close by; these are fast food dining establishments though. We did enjoy one meal at the Vulcan restaurant and were pleased overall with our menu choices. The hotel is off the beaten path and we considered our stay at the Vulcan one of the highlights of our trip after staying at a couple of mainstream hotels that while efficient, did not offer the warmth that is emitted by a hotel such as the Vulcan.

Vulcan Hotelour room was double booked, we booked a twin single as there was two of use staying. this room we were told was double booked, and we were "up graded" to a dulex from, this however was only a single queen bed. we then were told we could get a roller bed, this however was lost and we were given another room instead. hence had two rooms, the airconditioner in both rooms was broken and one room had a air cooler system as a back up, this however was also broken. and we fixed time trying to fix it and had to buy ice to get it to work, but it was no more effective than a fan.othere than those issues the hotel was lovely, the daycor, environment and the food has great. but over all we did not feel we recieved vaule for money or was compenstated from the issues with our booking

Although it was a bit of a walk to Darling Harbour, the hotel was located close to the venue I was attending the next day. Hotel was clean & everything in my room was in working order.

I stayed at this hotel for one week. My first time to Sydney. I meet the owner there who helped me plan my whole holidays around Sydney/Australia. Great Hotel Great Country.

We got a room on the same day for just £51 for the night!!! It was really clean, modern and cosy. The bathroom was great too. Overall no complaints. Also it has a small, boutique feel about it which is far nicer than the rooms offered by large, generic chains. One downside is the 10am check out time which we had to hurry to make.

Great looking hotel. Great location. Good parking. The rooms were a bit tiny (and a bit dull compared to the rest of the hotel). I would stay there again. Would not bother with a delux room again though (I can't imagine there's a difference in the cheaper rooms).

Great location, pricing and service.. Only thing they could arrange is parking.. I paid through my teeth to parking meters.. It would make your stay just a bit more fun not paying so much for parking.. Nice and easy booking too.. tHanks for a good couple of nights.

Breakfast was good - food, and staff excellent. Room was adequate though cleaning staff left room door open and did not replace tea bags.

We enjoyed our stay - just what we were looking for .. My guess is its an old pub - an old building totally refurbed in a quiet part of the city.. it wasnt 5 stars but had a nice little botique feel to the place rather than a corporate type hotel - friendly and helpfull staff - great value

We found the room very clean and tidy. The dvd player was the first we have seen in a hotel and came in handy for playing our dvd of our cruise. The breakfast was very tastie. The resturaunt has not yet opened and they didnt know where the nearest resturant was. We found one 100 yards down the road.Thankyou Laterooms for finding us this lovley boutique hotel.
