Great Hotel, clean, noise free, comfortable, big room even being booked on cheaper rate. City View from historic building and area, just charming. Watched 2 large liners come and go from Circular Key . Staff are fantastic.

This hotel had old-world charm with all the modern facilities one could desire. There is honestly nothing that did not please us. The room was very large with a sitting area at one end and had a very large bathroom featuring marble counters and floors with a separate toilet area, shower and bathtub. The public areas were beautiful in this late 1800 building listed on the Historic Registry. Two weeks earlier we had stayed in a large modern five-star hotel in Sydney which was very nice but the Sir Stamford Hotel had real style and grace with wonderful art work and period furnishings. This hotel features traditional afternoon tea; our scones were freshly baked and delicious. We also ate late-night dinner in the bar and breakfast in the dining room. Both rooms were gorgeous! The service was consistently warm and efficient. If I return to Sydney, I would surely stay here again!

Unless you are seeking a hotel with decor and a fitout from the 70's, I would suggest seeking alternative accomodation. Very underwhelming for the price. 5 star rating, however there are many 4 star hotels within close proximity that are far superior for a much cheaper rate. Food is very expensive for the quality served.

We have stayed in Sydney several times in the past few years. This was the first time we stayed at this property. In the past we have stayed at the Four Seasons, Quay West, and The Grace. All have pros and cons. What I loved about this property was the location. We wanted a nice hotel near the Circular Quay, the Rocks, the Opera House and the Botanical Park. This property provided us all that. We got a great rate on the property and other online reviews is what sealed the deal on selecting this hotel for this visit. Since we arrived early morning from our overseas flight we knew we were not going to be able to check into the room early, especially since it was a Sunday morning. However, they did check us in at the desk, take our luggage and offered to phone us when the room was ready. We were able to get checked in prior to the stated check in time which was appreciated. The lobby is very nice, it is elegant, but also comfortable. We did not eat at restaurant so cannot make any comments on that. The room was spacious, we just had a superior room and we had no complaints with it. The bathrooms were nice and large. I will agree with some of the other reviews about the style of furniture is a bland and feels outdated but it is in good condition. Considering how much time we spent in the room it is not something worth being bothersome about the visit. The only issues that I did have was since we only went with the Superior Room it was not the best room location in the property. We were on the 3rd floor on the Park side and on the corner. We were next to a building that was under construction. No, we did not hear them actually working on the building but when the delivery trucks were bringing supplies to the street front before sunrise on Monday morning that was a bit distracting. Then the other slight annoyance is since the property is located near the Opera House a lot of the tour buses (large and small) park across from the property waiting for their tourist to be don

Exceedingly pleased with the hotel on every possible level. The location is fabulous (five minutes walk from the Opera House, two minutes from Circular Quay) and the hotel itself an oasis of calm. From the moment we arrived the friendly professional staff did everything they could to ensure our stay was memorable. The public areas of the hotel are filled with beautiful and interesting pieces of artwork, while the rooms are exceedingly comfortable and immaculate. The combined bedroom/sitting area was spacious and bright, and was a wonderful place to relax at the end of a long day of sightseeing. The washrooms are absolutely huge and offered every possible luxury. The fitness facility and pool area were both clean and convenient. We were particularly impressed with the staff who were unfailing gracious and helpful. The value for money was simply spectacular. We couldn't believe that we were able to stay in such a beautiful location at such reasonable prices. All and all, a lovely establishment in a fabulous location. We would happily stay there again.

Great location for visiting Sydney. Close to transportation, ferries, trains, and easy walking distance to many areas. Short walk to the Opera House. Restaurants and shopping close by in the Rocks area, and Opera House area. The hotel was clean and well maintained. Room was large, especially the bathroom. The business center allowed access to internet for small fee. The fitness center was small, did not visit the pool area. Would recommend the hotel for tourist or business visitor.

It is a smaller hotel with elegant decor and a staff that assisted us pleasantly several times during our 3 day stay. The only reason I gave a 9 for cleanliness is there were a couple of stains on the carpet in our room. Otherwise everything was lovely. The Sir Stamford is a boutique hotel in a fantastic location, just two blocks from Circular Quay. We could take a train, bus or ferry just steps from our hotel door. The decor of the hotel is elegant and well-maintained. You felt special when you walked in the foyer, as a doorman was there to greet you and help in any way, the concierge was nearby and the staff acknowledged you each time you entered. Our room was spacious, with a living space, a king bed and a gorgeous bathroom with carrera marble. We felt quite pampered in our surroundings. Bathrobes and slippers were provided which was handy when going to the fitness center for a sauna. We asked the concierge to help us several times with restaurant suggestions. They were all knowledgeable and helpful. We even asked for an hour later check-out time the day of departure and the concierge took care of that for us. This was our second visit to the Sir Stamford. We were there two years ago and we were so pleased with this hotel, we went back and will be sure to stay there again during future visits to Sydney.

A beautiful boutique hotel with a very personalised service right in the heart of the city yet so quiet. Would definitely recommend it for a romantic get away.

Our stay was exceptional. Everything from our greeting exiting our cab with the friendly professional bellman, to the Front Desk Staff, Concierge, and room service was exceptional. We found the hotel lobby to be so beautiful and welcoming after a long day of travel. Our bathroom was large and exquisite and the room itself was roomy, very classy, super clean and very comfortable. Everything was beyond our expectations and all that for an exceptional price. We would highly recommend this beautiful hotel to anyone who wants and expects the best in accommodations, service and location (being just a few minute walk to Circular Quay and the Harbour).

Excellent location. Walking distance to the Opera House, the ferries and The Rocks. Our cruise line docked at the Circle Quay so we walked the distance with luggage but that was a stretch. Large clean rooms. The hotel has an old English flair. We found the staff nice but not friendly. Well worth it and a bargain compared to the going rates at the time.

Location, calm quiet, beautiful old-fashioned English lobby, helpful concierge and staff. Breakfast is expensive, too large. Prefer breakfast included or a coffee shop in the hotel. The location is fabulous, facing the Botanical Garden on the front and around the corner from Circular Quay.
