this was the best of three properties that I have used on this same street

The breakfast. Small beds. Great value and good location.

I liked this hotel. It was clean, quiet, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was quite good too.

I was very impressed with this hotel. It was just a one night stay. Quiet, nice area. Alot of places to eat and shop. Love the pet friendly aspect. It was very clean and very nice. We stayed in a King Suite. The sofa bed wasn't very comfortable according to my daughter but I don't know if you can find a comfy sofa bed. The pool was closed which was very disappointing to my daughter. We had medical stuff to do at UAB and the only drawing point for her was to lounge by the pool and it was closed both days we were there. The breakfast was good. My only complaint was that there was no liquid creamer for my coffee. I'm sure that doesn't seem like a big deal but when you only drink one cup of coffee a day you want to enjoy that. When I got home they had made a mistake on my hotel charge. They charged both rooms to my debit card instead of one to mine and one to the party I was with. I called about that and they assured me it would be taken care of. To be continued on that. They said it takes a couple of days to credit back. Overall, I was very pleased with location, cleaniness, size and staff. Would highly recommend it to anyone that has an appt at the UAB medical facilities. It is easy and fast to get there from this hotel. Some of the other hotels that are closer were either more expensive, not pet friendly, or had terrible reviews. I am very picky so I won't stay where there are alot of negative reviews. This hotel is one you can feel safe at.

Great place to stay and located near Samford University where the Miss Alabama pageant was held.

It was the way hotels should be. Nothing bad to say.

It definitely was not the worst hotel I've stayed in for the price range. I found the staff nice. The room was clean and the beds were more comfortable than any other hotel of the same calibur I've stayed in. The down part was that when we went to go swimming the staff told us the pool was closed, but there was no sign or anything about it being closed at the pool.

I don't really have a way to know if the rates are competitive as I got this hotel as part of a package. Staff was very friendly and corrected an internet issue when my computer couldn't log on-very quickly! Breakfast and other amenities were well done in every level. A good variety of restaurants nearby, which is convenient. I didn't have time to use the pool, but it looked nice and also very clean.Hotel is located near a busy highway and is not very quiet. Slamming doors in the hotel didn't help. Changing room locations didn't help either. Bring ear plugs and enjoy your stay!

My daughter and I stayed at La Quinta in Birmingham while visiting a local university. While the staff we encountered were excellent, friendly and helpful, the room smelled of smoke (it was supposed to be a non-smoking room) and there were remnants of some type of splatter on the doors and walls of the bath room. We opened the window to air out the place and there was no screen to prevent bugs from entering. It wasn't bad enough that we felt we had to leave, but we will not stay there again.

Night parties all night, couldn't sleep, management wouldn't do anything about it. Don't stay at this hotel during spring break or prom. We called management several times and they refused to do anything about the kids running in the hall, knocking on the doors. My 6 year old was scared. We had to check out in the middle of the night.

Despite having requested a nonsmoking room we were assigned a smoking room- they were booked so there was not a possibility of making a switch. The front desk clerk was apologetic but that was not much consolation. The room had no shampoo, the towels were thin and although we had a coffemaker in the room there was no coffee pot. The elevators were dirty, beat up and the carpet was nasty. The carpet in the corridor leading to the elevators was loose, wrinkled and worn. Overall is twas a depressing property.

My family and I were in town for my neice's wedding and we stayed at this hotel. We were extremely pleased with every detail. The rooms were immaculate and very fresh. The breakfast was great as well. The dining area was roomy and we were not crowded, nor were other guest. The food variety and quality were exceptional. The price for the room was competitive and with the breakfast, a very good value. If you are looking for a great place for a reasonable price, this is your place. In all honesty, I would stay there again ,and would recommend it to all.

The reason for the poor review was the elevator was out of order near our room and we had to carry our luggage around the whole hotel to get to our room. Also, one of the reason I has chosen this hotel was because it had a pool. The only problem was the pool was down due to maintainence. I wasted money on this feature. The only reaaly good part about the hotel was the breakfast it was great and a real bargin for those with a family.

Nice hotel. Despite proximity to interstate it was quiet and the rooms were spacious and clean. Ice machine quite generous and located so as to keep noise level down. Hotel is close to grocery store and several places to eat. Others have noted the aging , small elevators but they worked fine and reliably. Occasionally the plumbing showed its age and made annoying sounds but that seems a minor complaint.

I was among the first guests to stay at this hotel years ago while attending a training class at the State Farm Regional Office (next door). The room and furniture were in as good condition and as clean as the first time I stayed there. Location is excellent, far enough from the highway to get a quiet nights sleep, and close to plenty of stores and restaurants. The only downside to staying at the Homewood La Quinta is the cost.

Great location, beautiful setting! The smoking building smelled badly. Do not stay in them! Whatever you do, do not stay in a smoking room. The inside smelled awful. It was nauseating. No real smoke odor.

Used travelocity to search for a place to accept pets when evacuated for hurricane. Place was great. large clean rooms with lots of freindly people. Amazing when you figure most were also hurricane displaced. Pool was closed which upset the grandkids but still rate the stay as very good.

I have had a few bad experiences with bad hotels and this hotel is not one of them. The room was large and had plenty of space. The brought us fresh, hot towels when we requested them in the morning. They had a small but fresh breakfast downstairs. This hotel was really nice for a good basic price. I have nothing really bad to say about this hotel but that the elevators seem kind of dated compared to the rest of the hotel. But even that was not bad.
